【Conclusion of Joint Research Agreement with Keio University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences】Joint Research on Early Detection of Cancer Using Liquid Terahertz Spectroscopy Technology

FEMTO Deployments Inc. [FDI] (Representative Director and President: Watanabe M. Okayama University Incubator No. 213, 1-1-1 Tsushimanaka, Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture) has signed a joint research agreement with Keio University on October 1, 2021 on the early detection of cancer using liquid terahertz spectroscopy technology.

In this research, in collaboration with Associate Professor Juntaro Matsuzaki of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Keio University, we aim to verify whether liquid terahertz wave spectroscopy technology, which instantaneously measures macro information on the intermolecular force of liquids, can be used for the analysis of biologically derived samples, and to build a new body fluid test technology. Through this research, we will contribute to a society where early detection of cancer can be detected at an unprecedented speed.

About FEMTO Deployments Inc.

FDI is a solution company that proposes DX of liquid information by capturing the "intermolecular state of liquids" by THz (terahertz wave) (THz measurement of liquids, analysis by AI, construction of intermolecular state database of liquids). In March 2021, we started mass production of liquid terahertz spectroscopic analyzers as an important input device for the digitization of liquids. In addition, as a solution service business, we also propose consulting by staff who are familiar with various liquids handled in each industry.

Liquid Terahertz Spectroscopy Analyzer

It is the world's first state-of-the-art spectroscopy analyzer that enables the quantification of the state between molecules of liquids. The intermolecular state of liquids varies due to various disturbance factors. Existing analyzers, such as those represented by liquid chromatography, were difficult to quantify the intermolecular state of liquids. FDI has focused on this, converting the intermolecular state of various liquids into data, and has succeeded in digitizing the intermolecular state of liquids by extracting liquid features using AI. This makes it possible to provide new options for solving problems in R&D, manufacturing and quality control.

About the vision for the future

In various industries, liquid DX will realize true liquid traceability, and we would like to take Japan's "high quality" to a higher level, such as improving the quality of liquid products, significantly improving the yield of secondary products, and accelerating the development of cutting-edge medical and pharmaceutical products.

In the personal service, we would like to improve quality of life (QOL) by grasping the pre-disease condition by incorporating a miniaturized THz chip into smartphones and toilets by utilizing accumulated big data.

FDI will spread the world's first state-of-the-art liquid analysis system from Japan and provide the future of new liquid DX.
